US Soccer National Amateur Championship in Maryland on Memorial Day Weekend

BRIDGEVIEW – The second annual US Soccer National Amateur Championships will take place in Central Maryland May 22-25 at Arundel High School, the home of the WPSL’s Chesapeake Charge. Joining the men’s competition this year will be a women’s bracket, which will honor former prominent amateur and USWNT player, Michelle Akers.

“I am extremely honored and excited about having the USASA Women’s Championship trophy being named after me, and can’t wait to meet the team who wins it first,” Akers said.

Tournament will feature the champions of the USL-PDL, NPSL, WPSL, W-League and the open and amateur divisions of USASA’s National Cups. Men’s teams competing this year are the Austin Aztex, RVA FC, RWB Adria and NTX Rayados. And on the women’s side it’ll be Pali Blues, San Diego Sea Lions, ASA Chesapeake Charge and Houston Aces.

“The success of last year’s event has everyone on edge to see the teams back on the pitch,” US Adult Soccer Executive Director Duncan Riddle said. “We’re excited to bring the US Soccer National Amateur Championships to Baltimore, and I look forward to seeing some great competition Memorial Day weekend.”

The men’s draw will take place April 21 and the women’s will take place April 26. Results will be posted online immediately following each draw.
