ASA Rec Games Cancelled

All games scheduled for today for Mini's, Clinic, Juniors, Seniors and Intramural are cancelled for Saturday.  Schedules for teams in other leagues are not effected.

Fall Registration and Club Tryouts

Opens online 1 June

Arundel Soccer will open Fall registration online on 1 June.  Forms will be available on ASA day as well as well as during 4 summer walk-ups and by download.    ASA will also hold open player evaluations for any boys and girls who are looking for county or travel teams in ages U9 through U13.  Evaluations will be held evenings during the week of June 9th at Arundel Middle (dates TBD).  For information for players or coaches, please email here.

ASA Coaches Dinner

Saturday, 17 May, Cancun Cantina, 5 to7 PM

ASA is hosting a dinner at Cancun Cantina in Harmons and invites all coaches, assistant coaches and team managers/team mom's  to attend.  Food and lite drinks are provided and a cash bar is available.  Adults only please.    The dinner is from 5 to 7 PM on Saturday May 17th.  The purpose is to thank coaches for their contributions, discuss future events in ASA and the road ahead, new county and travel teams for Fall 2008, and to see how we can help coaches at all levels.     Please RSVP by 13 May to Coaching@ArundelSoccer.com.

ASA Day at Crystal Palace

Saturday, May 10th, 7PM, UMBC Stadium

ASA has arranged for a discounted night with Crystal Palace at UMBC Stadium for 10 May.  Tickets are $14.  For information, download the flyer and order form here.    Crystal Palace USA is Baltimore's professional, outdoor soccer team founded in 2006 and competes in the 10-team Second Division of the United Soccer Leagues, also called USL2.  The USL2 season runs from April to August.  The team also competes for the US Open cup, a 100-year old, single-elimination competition open to professional and amateur teams alike.  Every year, the later rounds of the US Open Cup feature USL teams playing against Major League Soccer teams like DC United.

Muthanna, Iraq Soccer League Project

ASA would like to support the efforts of ASA United and Coach Ron Santos in supporting our soldiers in Iraq and the people of Muthanna Province through soccer.  We are seeking soccer gear suitable for players 8 to 18, including cleats, shin guards, jerseys and other gear.  Its a great time for Spring cleaning.  If you have gear that your kids will no longer use, please simply bring it by Arundel Middle on M/W/F between 5:30 and 6PM (JV Field) or T/TH at 5:30 (field in front of School).  You can also contact Coach Santos by email here.    For the background of the project, please read below:    "I am a diplomat with the U.S. State Department serving in southern Iraq on the Provincial Reconstruction Team for Muthanna Province. Muthanna is a poor and rural area long neglected by Saddam’s regime. On the UN’s Deprivation Index, Muthanna ranks dead last among all Iraqi provinces--18 out of 18.  Unemployment hovers around 60% of the population.  As you might imagine, unemployed and idle young men provide a fertile recruiting ground for the militias.  I am hoping to counter that influence by giving the youth of the province a constructive alternative: soccer."    Continue...

Arundel Soccer is growing again - adding programs and more soccer players each season.  If you have an interest in soccer and would like to learn more about working as a coach or assistant coach, please contact coaching@ArundelSoccer.com.  If you've played soccer as a youth or as an adult or both, please consider giving back a little to the game and to the kids from age 3 on up who are ready to learn.  Training for coaches is provided or paid for by the club.  See the coaching section on the homepage for details.
